“This Little Piggy went to Market”

Sandal season is in full swing.

And you know what that means?

Exposed little piggies.

Whether going to market or staying home

Pampered piggies are happy piggies.

Beautifully manicured piggies are not necessarily happy feet.

In Summer’s heat, your piggies get thirsty so it’s important to keep them hydrated.

They can be suffering dehydration underneath coatings of Opi “You Don’t Know Jacques” nail polish.

Your piggies need to be clean, buffed and hydrated.

Little Piggy Refreshments:

*Begin with clean, exfoliated piggies.

1. After Shower Cocktail. Mindfully hydrate (see “Supplies”  below) your piggies after a shower and give them a mini massage to start the day.   Seriously, this is a time investment of a few minutes.   If you use a therapeutic essential oil, it seeps through your skin and boosts the internal forces working to keep you grounded and well.  The aroma also travels through your nose straight to your limbic brain system providing emotional benefits.

2.  Bedtime Nightcap. Rub an essential oil combined with a carrier oil to the soles of your feet before going to bed.  I have my foot massage essentials in my bedside table drawer.   Use one of the essential oils mentioned depending upon the need of your piggies.  You’ll go to sleep like a princess!   Maximum time investment of five minutes.

3. Sensual Sole Feast.  Using your hands, fingers, essential oil and carrier oil of your choice.  Gently hold each piggie and feel the heart beat pulses present.  Feel each part of your foot and when you feel tenderness, take time to gently hold that area, apply pressure, rub, massage, annoint with a touch of the oil at hand, unite the palms of your hands with the soles of your feet and offer thanksgiving for their service.  The nerve endings in both will exchange energy and support one another.   You may want to linger and give yourself 10-20 minutes to enjoy this ritual.

Supplies
Prior to my essential oil love affair, my go-to foot lotion was Aveda Foot Relief.  It’s divinely appointed to hydrate, soothe and invigorate little piggies.   I still recommend it which is why I’ve provided the link however, if you’re looking to hydrate beyond your piggies to your cellular structure and support your emotional well-being I suggest you take the alternate route and invest in a few inexpensive supplies.
A therapeutic grade essential oil plus a carrier oil or lotion.
Common essential oils for your piggies:

Peppermint  aides circulation, stimulates your nerve endings and invigorates the muscles and joints.

Wintergreen soothes achey muscles and joints.

Lavender encourages calm,  peace and relaxation.

I always have available Weleda Arnica Massage Oil and sweet almond oil.

Other options include but are not limited to:  olive oil, wheatgerm oil, grapeseed oil, apricot kernal oil and jojoba oil.

Our little piggies go beyond the market and beyond on our behalf, we can keep them happy and hydrated.

***You can purchase single oils from Rocky Mountain Oils and you can purchase carrier oils at your local Whole Foods market, Trader Joe’s or independent well-care store.
